Joel Kelley graduated from UMHB in 2017 with his Doctoral Degree in Physical Therapy. He has been treating in an outpatient setting for over 5 years, developing experience with many different diagnoses all across the lifespan. He specializes in Sport Rehab and Orthopedic conditions. He is a certified therapist in Therapeutic Taping and Dry Needling. He also has conducted extensive research on increasing an athlete’s vertical, speed, and power. He enjoys the non-traditional approach to therapy as he continues to research the body and its functional performance. You will often see his patients walking backwards, his geriatric population lifting weights, and everyone barefoot during a session. In addition to providing physical therapy, Dr. Kelley is also highly involved in beach volleyball and crossfit. He owns Legacy Beach Volleyball and trains elite athletes to prepare them for college sports. He also has a CrossFit L1 certification to coach athletes for improved strength, mobility, and performance.
While away from the clinic, he enjoys spending time with his family. He likes to play dominoes, throw washers, play disc golf, and coach his children’s little league sports. He enjoys all sports, especially CrossFit and volleyball. He enjoys competing and working towards new goals and achievements. He is simply competitive.
He is dedicated to helping and serving others! He is active in his church and loves teaching his 5th grade Sunday School class. Mission work is important to him and he frequently prays for his patients. His therapy is focused on the Bible verse, “A thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy. I have come so that they may have life and have it in abundance“ John 10:10. Dr. Kelley wants to provide his patients with an abundant life style so that they can enjoy God’s blessings of outdoors, family, and activity!
Kayla Kelley graduated from UTMB in 2012 with her Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy. She has been treating in an outpatient pediatric setting for over 10 years, developing experience with many different diagnoses. She enjoys working/playing with kids and loves to get smiles and hugs. She enjoys the vastness of what she can offer to her patients, but specializes in feeding (picky eaters), dysgraphia (handwriting), and behavior. Her favorite aspect of OT is seeing the excitement from kids and their families when skills are developed, and a realization that they are capable of achieving hard things!
While away from the clinic, she enjoys spending time with her family. She homeschools her two children and loves observing them learn and grow. She also prioritizes her health by staying active - she plays sand volleyball, pursues CrossFit, and loves doing anything outside.
She is dedicated to helping and serving others! She believes in using a client-centered approach and forming goals that are most important to her kids and families. "As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God." - 1 Peter 4:10
